Default Replacement burner installation
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 911.95575790
Age: 5 - 10 years

I had a burner go out on my Kenmore range cooktop . I tested the current between the two poles of the old burner when it's turned on and it's getting juice. The old element looked warped and cracked, so purchased a replacement element, thinking that must be the only problem.

The original part number is: WB30T10007, but the replacement specified is: WB30T10045 (PartSelect Number: PS243903). The wiring is slightly different however. I hooked it up in a logical way that should have worked, but for some reason the burner doesn't heat up. I've posted an image detailing how the old and new parts have been hooked up here:

Either I've got it hooked up wrong, or there's something else going on.
Any help would be appreciated!

In case anyone else has this problem, I found the solution:

Assuming I ordered the correct replacement part, the new way to connect it involves swapping two of the wires. The wire that used to connect directly to one of the two poles that go the the element, now swaps with the wire that connected to the opposite side ("A" and "E" in my illustration - link above), closest in. Because the connection is difficult without flipping the whole element upside down, I followed these two brown wires back to the control knobs and switch them there. Connecting everything back the way I originally had, everything works fine.

Now I just need to figure out why the hot surface light indicator - the one that stays lit as long as something is hot somewhere - is on constantly. But this has been on since the burner first stopped working, so I'm used to it. Someday I'll go back in there and figure that one out...
