Default Replaced safety switch and oven still doesn't work.
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FGF316BSA
Age: 5 - 10 years

My range is a Frigidaire model number FGF316BSA. The oven stopped working and we replaced the safety switch. My husband determined that this part needed replaced after tapping on the gas valve and the oven would light for a while. Now we replaced the safety switch and it still won't work. When he taps on it now, it won't light but for a second.

I have tried to find troubleshooting info but to no avail. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what we should do next.

Thanks
Kris

Safety switch? you mean safety valve?
Most likely you have the ignitor problem. If it's all white (the glowing part, when it's off) - a sure sign of the problem

Old School We Would Automatically Change Out The Safety Valve, But With The Electric Ignitors It Normally Is The Ignitor That Is The Problem. There Has To Be A Certain Amount Of Milliamps Going Through The Ignitor In Order For The Safety To Open. Even If The Ignitor Glows It Does Not Mean It Is Good. Milliamps Is Determined With A Multi=meter.

Great advice guys! We replaced the igniter and now there are flames shooting into the oven from the bottom. Is there any way to control the flame height?
