Default Replaced bake element, now bake & broil do not work
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JBP76GV1
Age: 5 - 10 years

I had a short in my bake element, replaced it and now bake, broil, self-clean do not work. Broil worked before I replaced element. Is it timer, thermostat? Debating between replacing it or replacing oven. It is lower end model for GE, came with house we bought.
Thanks

Is the top of the range still working?

Did you check the wiring.

Check to see if you have 240 volts at the clock.

Here is a link to your range model JBP76GV1.

Default Bake, broil, self-clean not working

Top burners all still working. Clock & all push buttons work (bake time, delay start, etc.) Function knob with bake, broil, self clean, and temperatures seems to work, by this I mean all the lights are on. I have checked all the wiring including power coming in and that to the clock and it is fine. I followed all the wires from power wires and element wires, function knob wires, etc. to make sure they were all attached with good connections. The only unusual thing I found, but it was like it before the original element shorted out (unless this caused the problem)was on the right side of the terminal block, there are 2 black wires that come out, one goes up to bake element the other has a terminal on it like it should be screwed into something, but it isn't attached anywhere. I just found this last night after original post. I can't find any wiring guides--is it supposed to be attached somewhere? The wire diagrams in manual show only 3 wires coming off terminal block of power source. I have four & the grounding arm.

Sorry I don't have a wiring diagram of your range so I can't say what the wire is for.

Is there a wiring diagram on the back of the range in an envelope?
