Replace glass on jennair?remove frame or entire cooktop? Brand: Jenn-Air Model Number: CVE3401 Age: 5 - 10 years I broke the glass on the right side of my electric cooktop. all the elements are ok The metal frame is one piece and goes around both glass panels as well as the entire cooktop. All I can see are 6 screws inside the space for the downdraft. I removed them... as well as the knobs and washers. I cannot lift the frame off. The glass fits in a ridge that is part of the metal trim. I turned off the electric power. I spent hours online and cannot find out an answer to whether I have to lift out the entire cooktop and detach all the wiring. it seems unnecessary. I used a flashlight and I still dont see whats holding me up. anyone know? i cant detach the wiring if the glass isnt off! the glass is missing a chunk so the frame has to come off I believe . It sure seems like the frame and glass should lift off in one piece to be simplistic! does it?
