Default Range door stuck in cleaning lock
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: Crown Series
Age: More than 10 years

The latch for my Frigidaire Crown Series range (12 years old) is stuck in the lock position. Fortunately its locked OPEN instead of closed.

The door closes enough for us to bake without losing much heat, but it looks funny and the CLEAN light stays on constantly. Also, putting the oven in CLEAN mode now does nothing.

I've unplugged it for a few minutes hoping something might reset. Any other thoughts?

Default

Can you please supply your model number?

The model number can be found on the frame of the range where the drawer closes on a tag with the serial number.

Try pressing the door light switch a couple of times to see if this will activate the lock.

I'll give it a shot tonight. If no luck, I'll provide the model info. Thanks.

Default Holy cow, it worked!

I flipped the light switch on top of the stove on and off several times to no avail.
Then I started pressing and releasing the sensor at the upper left corner of the oven door. Almost immediately I heard the familiar clicking sound of the mechanism that moves the cleaning latch from locked to unlocked.

Voila...the door now closes completely! I don't understand at all why it worked, just glad it did.

Thanks!
