Default Range Coil too hot
Brand: Caloric
Age: More than 10 years

I just replaced the coil receptical (not sure that's what it's called) for one of the large coils and when I put the burner on high, it gets extremely hot to where it seems to be burning the base under the drip pan. There is also an awful burning smell. I didn't pay attention to the two wires I connected....I assumed it didn't matter but could that be the problem?
Thanks

What your problem is, is the burner switch for that burner. It controls the temp of that burner. Replace it. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
