Default Radiant "Haliant" keeps cycling on/off
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JBP71EK1BB
Age: 1 - 4 years

Two of the radiant "haliant"s on my GE glass top stove, model JBP71EK1BB, don't heat, I believe, properly. The large dual element cycles on/off constantly and takes forever to heat a pot of water. I got new cookware that has a flat bottom per the owners manual trouble-shooting guide, and that didn't fix the problem. One of the small radiant "haliant"s doesn't want to heat at all. Can anyone help me to trouble-shooting both hailiants to see if they are good or bad? I am getting no error codes. Thanks,

For the six inch element check the power going in to the switch and the power coming out of the switch.

If you have 240 volt unhook the wire to the element and check the resistance to the element.

The resistance should be about 38 ohms.

For the large element it sound like a bad burner.

Here is a link to your range model JBP71EK1BB.

Thanks for the response. Should I be checking the on/off switch on the console or what looks to be a switch or controler attached to the burner? Since there are multiple terminals on the burner which ones should I test across with an ohm meter to see if the burner is bad? Also, are electrical parts for my stove returnable if returned unopened? Thanks

You will have to use the wiring diagram to determine which terminal to test as I do not have the wiring diagram for your range.

Electrical parts can not be returned if the package has been opened.
