Propane or not Brand: Maytag Model Number: 1949 dutch oven Age: More than 10 years i will try and keep this story short
went to my local used appliance dealer
found a old maytag dutch oven model 1949
told the salesman i needed the unit to be run on propane at 8000 feet.
he said he would confirm this with his home office andi could come in the next day. i did and he said that on an older stove like this only the burners had to be adjusted!
i purchased the stove and installed it at my cabin
they gave me a 30 day labor and a one year parts warranty.
after installation the flames adjusted down nicely but we could not figure out how to light pilots.called dealer and he said he would look for manual.
he never returned my call
after short use i could smell propane leaking from burner valves!
i packed unit back into truck and drove it 70 miles to there service center
after a week or so i called and they incicated that the stove was ruined
because i ran it on propane and the waranty was no good and would give no money back.
there sales reciept says they are not responsible for salesmans comments.
question
could i have ruined stove by running propane
was there a kit i should have installed[orifices for lp and altitude]
are they correct or are they trying to get out of parts warranty
i did not know alot about stoves before i started out i am shure learning quickly!!!
paid $375.00 for stove
still would like to try and make it work
let the buyer beware but i thought i covered the propane question before purchase |
