Default Please help
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: zek735wp
Age: Please select

I meant to say it is a GE monogram zek735wp1. Recently my bake element quit working. The broil element works fine. I used an ohm meter and tested the therm. it is working perfectly. I ordered a new bake element and installed it. Unfortunately it still doesn't work. Now I used an ohm meter to check the voltage of the two wires that connect to the bake element. I found that the wire that goes directly from the clock control to the element is dead. The one that goes from the broil element to the bake element putting out the proper voltage. So I imagine I need to replace the clock control panel. After searching online I found out that it is $350.00 to replace it. Ouch! So my question is this, is it definately the clock control panel? Could it be a relay or something else? There are a lot of parts that look very foreign to me? I just don't want to spend $350.00 on a part I dont need. Can anyone help? Also, would it hurt to temporarily swith the wires on the control board making the bottom element work like a broil element. Atleast then I could cook a pizza on low broil while I wait to recieve the control panel.

Yes it would be your clock control board, provided all of your readings are correct. But, I logged on to the sears Parts web site, and they have your part listed as a WB27K5046 for 187.49. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default thanks

Thanks for the tip on getting it from sears. After taking the control board apart, I found that it was definatly bad. There was a burnt spot on the chipboard. I just had to follow the path on the chipboard from where the dead wire connected. It looks like some kind of a relay or something, (a little black box). I noticed the broil lines led to an identical black box with the same part numbers on it. We never use the broil so I desoldered it and put it in place of the burnt one on the bake element side. Going to take the burnt one to Radio Shack and see if they can get me a new one. If not I will order the Sears one. Would be nice to have the option to broil. The bake element works now, so atleast my wife can use it until I get it fixed. Again, thanks for the tip.
