Default Pilot went out
Brand: Tappan
Model Number: MPF500PBWD
Age: 5 - 10 years

The pilot went out. There doesn't appear to be any air movement that would have caused it. After gas was turned back on, pilots on the top and in the oven lit without any problem. Any thoughts on why one or more pilots would have gone off? There were some white deposits near the pilots, a soft crystalline powder.
Now that it is lit, any particular things to look for. I don't want anyone to get gassed.

How can I tell how old this unit is? It was in a condo we bought. Might be time to buy a new one.

I'm not sure what would have caused the pilots to go out.

There might have been and interruption in the gas flow.

Going by the breakdown of the range I would guess that the age is about 25 to 30 years.

To find the exact age you can call Tappan at US 1-800-599-7569 Canada 1-800-265-8352.

The White Powder Around The Pilots Are White Rust Or Corrosion Of Aluminum. The First 4 Numbers Of The Serial Number Would Be The Approx Year Built. Sounds As Though The Range Is Old By The Description Of "pilot Lights". Buy A New One...with A Warranty.
