Angry Piece of S_ _ _ oven
Brand: Tappan
Model Number: TW44706357
Age: More than 10 years

We purchased this house in July of last year. My wife decided to clean the seemingly unused self clean oven inside. She unfortunately took the door off and thought she was doing the right thing and placed both clips on the hinges to a locked position. So I had to take the door to an appliance repairman in our town, 2 hours of labor later the clips were unlocked. We thought all we had to do was put the oven door on like we've done with all our other ovens in the past (NOT THIS TIME) . Apparentley some rocket scientest engineer decided he would come up with an oven door that really ticked people off to put back in. The hinges go in and everything seems good but it will not stay closed. After fighting with this I called the aplliance repairman he said he has had trouble with this brand name before and would charge us at least $100 to fix. I might as well throw the range in the garbage and buy a new one is my frame of mind. We have lived here since July and have'nt even used the range since we've been here, luckily we have a range in our unused tenants suite in our basement that we use.

The problem now is we are selling this house and should really have a main floor range to go with the house. Currently we are using Duct tape to keep the oven door from opening. Does not look good!

Has anybody experienced this problem before. I have'nt even heard of TAPPAN is it a sub brand or what.

Help would be appreciated.

Update:

We still have'nt been able to use the oven. Our hinges appear to be in the correct position in the oven and the clips are in the resting position. The door opens to 90 degrees and stays there, but will not stay closed. It appears that the locking rod is in the way of the door when closing. We are able to use self cleaning mode and the door does lock. Any other ideas out there.

Thanks;
