Default PartSelect website parts question
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGBP32GEL1
Age: More than 10 years

Hello,

I'm in need of a new burner switch and it appears PartSelect may have one but I'm not sure. They list two on their website under the same diagram number
(323) for my four burner range. One says it's unavailable(PS237282) and their customer support person says that one references to GE p/n WB24X789. Everywhere I search, that GE part number is not available.

The second part they show is PS231347. Their person says they list it because it's a replacement for the PS237282 and it's available. Though she can't tell me what that part number references as far as a GE part is concerned(something about the manufacturer providing the info and PS doesn't know anything about it).

Out of all of my research, PartSelect is the only one who lists a supposed "replacement" for the original GE burner switch. Thus I'm a little suspicious. I don't want to buy anything that isn't engineered for my range.

Can anyone tell me if that part on their website is indeed a replacement for the GE WB24X789?

Thanks.

You have no choice but to use the substitute part. Should have no problem with it, but might keep the invoice in case it fails within one year.

Thanks for the reply Appguy, I'll give that one a try.

Though I'm still curious about something. PartSelect customer support was able to tell me the switch that's no longer available- their p/n PS237382, references to GE p/n WB24X789. That is of course the one everyone knows as the correct/original burner switch. It can't be found anywhere.

Though no one at PartSelect can seem to tell me what the replacement switch they have listed- p/n PS231347, references to at GE. PS customer support even went so far as to suggest I call GE about the replacement part. Which doesn't make sense because GE wouldn't be familiar with the PartSelect part number(I've spoken with GE and they don't list a replacement for WB24X789). I would think someone at PS has to know what the GE part is, since they generated a PartSelect("PS" prefix) part number for it

Any chance you know or could find out what GE part the PS231347 is?

Thanks.

Hello Appguy or Sheila,

Either of you have any info in reference to the last sentence of my post?

Thanks Appguy, I understand WB24X789 isn't available. That wasn't my question in my other post. This is about my fifth attempt(here and with PartSelect customer support) to get this question answered. I don't understand why it's so confusing to anyone.

PartSelect.com shows a "supposed" replacement part on their website in the diagram for the burner switch. At least that's what PS customer support told me- it's the replacement part for WB24X789.

That replacement part number in the website diagram is PS231387 and is shown as diagram image #323.

Can ANYONE tell me what GE part the "PS" number above references to?

Sorry, correction in my last post. Should read "PS231347" (not '387')

Appguy,

Disregard my last couple of posts. I just talked to another customer support person at PartSelect who appears to be the only one who could figure out the confusion concerning the parts on their website.

The PS231347("valve switch") is NOT a replacement for PS237382(gas valve switch- WB24X789) that another customer support person and you told me I could use.

PS231347 is the "gas igniter switch". It's a totally different part than the WB24X347, but apparently they connect to one another and that's why they're both listed as diagram #323.

Both being the same diagram number is what was confusing. The person who setup the website should have used two diagram numbers, something like- 323 and 323A
