Default Overheats and F1 - what part to try next?
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MEW6527BAQ
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hope someone can tell me what part I need to look for.....my oven began malfunctioning by beeping and flashing error code F1 - after the oven becomes VERY hot. After studying several appliance repair forums, I replaced the sensor...same problem. Next I replaced the membrane switch assembly #74006726 and for $150 I thought it would have the whole control panel, but all it contained was the touchpad and ribbon connector. I had read that some Maytags have this as an all-in-one part. DUH

What is that part called that is attached behind the membrane that has all the electrical wires that control everything to the oven?? It measures about 4x8 and looks like a circuit board with a transformer, it is where the ribbon cable attached, the oven light switch attaches., etc.... essentially all the wires that control everything inside....

Does this part (electrical control panel...ERC?) sound like it may be causing my trouble?? Thanks so much. Deb

Yes it is your ERC (electronic range control) also known as the clock assembly.

Here is a link to your range model MEW6527BAQ.

The clock is number 2 on the control panel breakdown.

Thank you so much Sheila - I have ordered this part and the website says it has already shipped!

Electronic appliances can be so very frustrating to fix. It also seems like the error codes are hard to pin down as well. I did not know my ERC was called a "clock" Do other touchpad/membrane assemblies not have the clock as part of it?

Thank you for your help - hopefully this will do the trick as I don't think there is anything left to replace.
