Default Oven won't turn off
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GERC4110PS
Age: 1 - 4 years

I've stopped using the convection option on my oven because a number of times the back control panel has steamed up so much that the buttons don't work and I can't turn the stove off. I have to open the oven door to let it cool down and clear the steam. I've checked the whirlpool website and there's no helpful information there at all. Is this normal for a convection oven? It's been this way since we bought it.

Does this only happen during the convection bake?

Does it ever happen during the regular bake?

I haven't noticed it during the regular bake. It's happened once during the self-clean cycle, when the oven was fairly dirty.

Check the vent and make sure there is nothing obstructing the area.

If there is nothing blocking it I would try calling Whirlpool to see if they have any vent extender kit available for your stove.

Here is the numbers for Whirlpool.

USA 1-866-698-2538 Canada 1-800-807-6777.

Thank you!
Do I need to take off any panels to see if it's blocked inside? There's nothing visible on the outside.

You should be able to tell if it blocked just by turning the oven light on and looking in the vent hole along the back of the console.

You should see light.
