Default Oven won't light, broiler works fine
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGBP33
Age: 1 - 4 years

Our oven wouldn't start 5 days ago. Since the broiler worked fine, and since the igniter for the oven was an open circuit (no Ohms) I ordered a replacement igniter. I checked the new one out of the box and it also registered no Ohms. Doesn't this mean that the igniter arrived defective? I installed it anyway, thinking maybe I wasn't understanding something, but the oven still wouldn't light. I checked the voltage to the igniter when turning on the bake option and it was erratic at < 1 V, which didn't seem right, but I can't find any specs on what it should be. Should I just order a new igniter?

You should be getting 110 volts to the igniter.

If it is the bake burner that is not lighting it is likely a problem with the relay on the control in the console.

Here is a link to your range model JGBP33.
