Default Oven won't ignite
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: FGF334BGWD
Age: 5 - 10 years

Oven would not ignite; glow ignitor fine & comes on in about 5 seconds; top burners (4) okay; no smell (or sound) of gas.

Gave the cover to that electrical 'safety valve' a couple of thumps to both sides with the edge of my hand. After another test, the oven fired up.

Is it logical to assume that the safety valve failed? Would the pressure valve be at fault considering the top burners are okay? I'd rather not have a 'pro' tell me it's several things & pay out the ying-yang.

Am I correct in my assumption?

Thanks!

Yes I would say the safety valve is faulty.

The safety valve does not have any effect on the top burners.

Here is a link to your range model FGF334BGWD.

the ignitor may light but could not be drawing enough amps to open the valve. you need a amp meter to see if the ignitor is pulling 3 to 3.5 amps, if it is under three amps replace the ignitor
