Default Oven will not turn on
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: RGA624EF1WH
Age: 1 - 4 years
Cook top works. Oven igniter turns on but the oven burner will not turn on. Is the only possible problem the oven safety valve?

It is possible that the igniter is weak and not open the valve.

The resistance of the igniter should be between 50 and 500 ohms.

If it is not you will have to replace the igniter.

Hi Sheila,

The igniter appears to be working properly and at a sufficiant tempeture to ignite the gas. No gas is coming out.

The igniter will appear to be working but will not be strong enough to open the valve.
