Default Oven will not get hot, just warm
Brand: General Electric
Age: More than 10 years

My oven has not been heating at the right temp for a couple of years (25 degrees hotter than setting) although we adjusted the back of the knob. Now it barely gets warm. The numbers are very worn on the tag, but here is what I think I see: m66v596 or 8, and tv01201. I have it apart and I think what I'm finding is a thermostat of some sort connected to temp knob. Does this need replacing? The range is a drop in type range with the burner controls on the wall.

It is likely the thermostat that need to be replaced.

I have no information on this range and I have a feeling that your parts may not be available any longer.

With your model number you should give General Electric a call.

Here is the number for GE at US 1-800-626-2005 Canada 1-877-959-8688.

If you can get the number off the thermostat that may help as well.
