Oven turns itself on quite often

We have a magic chef free standing electric range oven that we have owned since we built our house 6yrs ago. Its a pretty basic model with no real bells and whistles. About a month ago the oven started turning itself on every couple hours. When it comes on it gets just barely warm and then shuts off. When it comes on, so does the indicator light. We have noticed that when it comes on, if you put a little pressure on the oven temperature knob by pushing in, the oven will shut off...sometimes it stays off and sometimes it turns back on as soon as you let off the pressure. Am I in need of a whole new thermostat or could it simply be a short somewhere?

There Could Be Something Binding The Thermostat Knob, And Yes If Watched The Knob Would Turn Slightly. Just To The Warming Stage.
