Default Oven temperature doesn't regulate.
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: CWEF357CFS1
Age: More than 10 years

My oven doesn't regulate temperature that I set on controller. I set temp to control at 425, but it keeps heating. Once it gets 500+ degrees it then rings in F3 on panel screen. The previous time I used the oven, my food was under-cooked, I think it wasn't reaching temp and regulating it too low, but no error alarm was flagged. I pulled out the sensor and tested at room temp and it showed 1084 ohms and the ohms climb as I apply heat to the sensor. Is it possible that this sensor could still be no good? What else could be the problem? Control panel? Please let me know. Thanks.

After checking the sensor, I put back together and tried oven once again. Set preheat for 350 and it kept heating until I cancelled it at 475. I then entered 300 setpoint and it kept climbing until I cancelled again at 525.

So can the sensor still be faulty even after passing an ohm test? Or is it for sure my control panel that is hooped?

yeah i ordered a new sensor, 30 bucks. waiting a couple weeks for it, thought for 30 bucks its worth a try. Otherwise, I guess its the control board. And to replace that would be more than what this stove is worth.

Have you considered repairing the one you have? I am thinking of trying these people:

Dear Tyvan and Terry,
Temperature drift on GE controls is often caused by a bad capacitor on the board. If this is the case you should see a displayed temp. which is much higher than the actual oven temp. Our company rebuilds these controls.

Did the temp sensor fix it? I've got a GE oven doing the same thing. It's controlled via a knob, not the electronic screen. Set it at 200, and the oven temp climbs to 450 plus. The light that indicates power to the element is off durig this process though. Must be a relay type of thing?
