My father in law has a Magic Chef Model 34MA-3TKXW gas stove. He has had the oven ignitor repalced twice. If you put the oven on lets say 400 the oven gets hotter than that. Before he had the ignitor changed it was doing to oppisite. ( set at 400 only get 350 in oven) Do you think it could be something else wrong in the oven. I personally dont think it is the ignitor and dont want him to waste his time buying one. What is the best way to check to see what is wrong with out calling someone out to look? Thanks

The igniter would not cause the over heating. All the igniter does is light the gas.

His problem is either the oven sensor or the oven control/clock.

Does he get any code in the display?
