Default Oven overheats
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: jbp21g
Age: More than 10 years

electric oven sometimes works OK other times the lower burner stays on and overheats. It will stay on even though the dial is turned to "off" - the burner stays on and overheats the oven. Can only be stopped by turning off power to the unit. After cooling off, will operate OK again for a while then overheat again. Is it temp sensor issue or control panel?

This would be caused by the control assembly.

Here is a link to your range model jbp21g.

For a more detailed breakdown of your range you will need the last two digits of your model number.

The model number can be found on the frame where the drawer closes on a tag with the serial number.

Shiela,

the oven is jbp21gv1wh - is the part for this ps240180 control TO8??

is this part reasonably easy for non-tech to replace? I understand most wiring and have done some electrical work.
