Unhappy Oven Overheating

Last Saturday I threw a party for which I had to cook quite a bit, but not more than your average holiday meal. I had baked a few batches of cookies when the oven suddenly overheated. The digital display said F2. The temperature appeared to be unregulated and was just going up and up. We turned the oven off and opened it to allow it to cool down. After about 30 or 45 minutes we tried it again and it seemed to work fine, but it scared the heck out of me. This is a GE gold glass top oven that we purchased new when we built our house 2 1/2 years ago. We used it again on Sunday morning and it was fine. What in the world would cause this?

It sound like the relay in the control may have stuck.

If it happens again the electronic control will have to be replaced.
