Is the bake element heating at all?

When the element burnt out it may have damage the control.

Here is a link to your range model MER5755QAQ.

It was heating a little, oven never would go past 200. However, we pull off the "control unit board" to see if we saw any problems. Reconnected everything, now the oven won't quit heating. I just placed a thermometer in it, had it set at 350 - turned off the oven when the thermometer was at 550!

What are you calling the thermometer?

Is it the sensor that you replaced?

Have you looked at the relays on the control?

It sounds like the control is what is giving you your problem.

Originally replaced bake element because it "blew up" Didn't heat up past 200, took out control, couldn't find any damage, so replaced it. Oven felt like it was getting too hot so I bought a oven thermometer, turned the oven on to 350, checked it after about 10 minutes, and the temp was reading 550, but the control on the stove still showed 350.

OK now I know what you mean, you bought a thermometer that you can place on the rack to see what the temperature of the oven is.

Check the resistance of the oven sensor it should be 1100 ohm at room temperature.

The sensor is locate at the back of the oven cavity.

Unplug the oven and remove the sensor and check the resistance.

Are you getting any F code in the display of the clock?

If the resistance of the sensor is good and you can not see any damage to the clock it is likely internal damage in the clock that is causing your problem.

Make sure the sensor harness is plugged into the clock.
