Default Oven heating up too much
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LER3330AAZ
Age: 1 - 4 years

No matter what I set the oven at it does not stop there, it keeps on heating up to extremely high temps.

The bake element had caught on fire previously and I just replaced that. On the first attempt to use the oven I noticed it was heating up too hot.

Could you recommend what I should do next and if it is something I can replace myself.

Thanks.

sorry, maybe it will help if I'm a little more specific.

After replacing the bake element I set the oven temp for 350 to preheat it for dinner. The temp hit 350 and the beep that sounds when it hits the desired temp went off. A little while later even though the display said it was 350 I could smell that it was much hotter than that so I raised the settling to 375 and it instantly changed to 375. I went up in 25 degree increments with the setting and every time the temp display instantly changed to the new higher temperature. It did not need time to heat up, it was already at and above the new temp setting.

I searched the parts list for a thermostat but couldn't find one.

Any ideas what else could be causing the problem ?
