Default Oven Element "welding"
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: spectra
Age: 1 - 4 years

My wife turned on the oven and it started frying the element. A bright white welding started on the element and moved around the element for about 6-8 inches even after it was turned off. Seemed pretty dangerous. I guess I need a new one??

Yes you will have to replace the element.

This happen quit often when an element burns out.

Can you please supply your model number?

Here is a link to your range model JBP68HD1WW.

The only thing that you should have to replace is the element.

Sometime the clock does get damage but it is hard to tell until you replace the element.
