Brand: Hotpoint
Age: More than 10 years

I have a oven element that is running about 100 degrees too low. Do I have a bad element or is the oven control stat bad?

It would be the control that is bad.

The element either works or it doesn't.

Can you please provide your model number?

It turned out the element was bad - it was cool to the touch, however what confused the issue was that there was some heat in the oven, It turns out that the broiler element was emitting heat. Is this normal that the broiler element would be on to assist the bake element?

In the preheat the broil element does come on to assist the bake element.
