Default Oven does not heat up
Brand: Amana
Model Number: AER5725QAW
Age: 1 - 4 years

We have an Amana range. Model #AER5725QAW. The bottom baking element recently burned up and my husband replaced it with no problem. But now the oven will act as if it wants to heat up but in heats up until it reaches 185 (which take longer than normal) and it won't heat any higher ( at least we have lost our patience and just turned it off).
What could the problem be?

When you turn it on bake, does the bake element get hot when you touch it. Also what you might want to check is, see if your oven has a celcius setting to it. If so 185 degrees is 350 celcius. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Thanks for your reply! The new baking element does not get red when the oven gets "warm". As far as the celcius setting I highly doubt it because it is currently up to 165 and I can touch the inside of the oven. It has been about 15 minutes and the oven is like I said 165. My husband thinks it could be the clock/control panel. Could this be? We don't want to purchase a part that expensive if it is not what we need.

Sometimes sitting here on my perch, it is hard for me to whip out my meter, and check your oven. So sometimes I have to ask the silly questions, before I advise you to plunge into a $175.00 clock. Before I do advise you to buy the clock, you stated that the bake element blew out, and your husband replaced it. Is he POSITIVE, the wires did not come off, or anything to that nature. Have him check it one more time. If not, this is a basic oven, you would need to replace the clock control. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
