Default Oven Display Reads 100+ Degrees HIGH
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: JGBP35GEP3WG
Age: 5 - 10 years

When cold the oven thermostat believes it is 205 degrees F. Setting the oven for 350, the display immediately shows 205, the burner turns on and after a few minutes it rises to 350 but the actual temperature is 150 (independent glass oven thermometer). Setting the thermostat for 500 will raise the oven temperature to 350. How can this issue be corrected?

Your problem is in the temp. sensor circuit.First check resistance across the sensor wires where they connect to the control.It should measure approx. 1100ohms at room temp. If the resistance is high ( which is what I suspect) disconnect the other end of the those sensor wires from the actual temp. sensor and measure the resistance of the sensor directly.If the sensor resistance is 1100ohms the problem is in the wiring between the sensor and the control if it is high then the problem is with the sensor.If the resistance is normal (based on your first test) then the problem is the control. We rebuild these controls.
Best of luck,

Default More information;

The sensor resistance is approx. 1100 ohms.
The electronic controller resistance measured with the sensor NOT connected is 40 Kohms.
