Question Oven dead
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: RBD305PDQ14
Age: 1 - 4 years

Day one: Blank display, light works inside, no other controls working. 3 beeps periodically.

Next day: Come home from work, E6 F2 code displayed.

Researched this error code - disconnected touchpad from control board, waited 10 minutes, re-connected and turned everything back on. Magically, everything begins to work. All functions are working properly.

Next day: Blank display again. Oven begins to heatup when start button pushed, but shuts back down quickly.

Local dealer says that touchpad and control board are separate units.

Which one do I need?

Looking up you model, the codes are clear as mud. On that whirlpool, I have come up with that code, and replace the control board. Unfortunantly it is a crap shoot. When you unplugged the touch pad, did the code come back up. If not replace the board. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

After I got everything re-connected and turned back on, the display came back to normal with only a PF code - which was cleared out whenever I reset the clock. Oven worked correctly about 12 hours. Everything went blank on the screen again without any error codes. After a couple of days, the series of 3 beeps returned and the E6 F2 error code came back again....

The control board looks clean - can't find any obvious burned spots....

If all your connections are good, It sounds to me that it took 24 hours for something to heat up in the electronics to create the code. What if you killed the breaker for 24 hours, and then turn it back on, and see what happens. It could very well be a bad board. I would hate to tell you to replace the touch pad on a whim. I thing the best advise is to call the whirlpool tech line. They charge I believe 20 bucks, but it would be alot cheaper then a touch pad, if you put it in and it does not work.
