Default Orange flame from ng range
Brand: Please select
Age: 1 - 4 years

Good morning -

This morning I turned on the range to heat water and saw that the flame on my garland range is orange. Tried all 6 burners, and all 6 are orange. This happened several weeks ago, and by the time I remembered to contact a repair place, it 'fixed itself'. The flame was back to a nice deep blue on all burners. I didn't really think much about it at the time, but now that it's happened again......

I initially thought that it was the housekeeper's fault, but have now realized that I used the stove yesterday and all was fine. The other thing common to both instances though is that the weather got dramatically colder overnight. Could this have something to do with it? I phoned the gas company, and they suggested sediment in the line, but offered neither a remedy nor an explanation of how it got there between yesterday and today, nor how it "went away" two weeks ago.

Does anyone have any thoughts they might share?

Thanks in advance,

Phil

p.s. - I'm in northern NJ, not Siberia, so the weather-change hypothesis seems a little shaky, but who knows.

Default Orange Flame

Sounds like low oxygen level, maybe moisture in the gas line in the stove. Check the air inlets for cobwebs or obstruction. We live at a high altitude and frequently have oxygen flow problems .
