Red face OLD Frigidaire oven won't stop self cleaning
Brand: Please select
Model Number: ?
Age: More than 10 years

We have a old Frigidaire Custom Deluxe 24" wall oven, which I am guessing was original to my 1960 house. Tonight we decided to find out if the self-cleaning feature works, which it does. The problem is, the stop time doesn't seem to stop the cleaning cycle, so the oven keeps cycling on and off and the door remains locked. It appeared that the stop time kept moving forward like the clock after a while. I had set the timer for two hours, but it was still on after three. I tried messing with the timer buttons, which may have made things worse. We just shut off the breaker to make it stop, but I won't have a working oven tomorrow! And Christmas cookies must be baked!

Any tricks on resetting this?

I don't know if this oven is even familiar to anyone, but the controls consist of a clock and with two small clocks to the right of it. The one on top is for stop time, and the one on the bottom is for start. I don't know if the issue might be that the little clocks aren't synching with the main clock. Hmmmm...

Input appreciated!

To take is out of the clean cycle shut the controls to the off position.

Does the main clock still work?

If not that is your problem. The two smaller clocks work in-sink with the big one so if the big one is not working the small ones will not work either.

Once the oven is cool off you should be able to open the door and use it to bake your cookies.

Make sure that you set the timer back to the manual setting so the oven will work.
