the glowing element comes on but there is no gas coming on it works occasionaly

If your glow coil comes on, and it does not work, that means you need to replace the ignitor coil. It is not glowing bright enough to open the gas valve. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
