Default No self clean on electric oven
Brand: Please select
Model Number: JK 2501 AV
Age: More than 10 years

Self-cleaning function stopped working. The latch release solenoid works and the latch does go into clean position, but no red light when knob is in "clean" position and no lock red light and no red oven cleaning light.

I have removed, disassembled and cleaned the contacts on the oven set switch. All contacts seem OK (as checked with an ohm meter) and there are no burnt contacts.

I have the wiring diagram, but have a hard time following it.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check the switch on the door look assembly.

Can you please verify your model number?

The model number can be found on a tag with the serial number on the frame of the stove where the drawer closes.

Sheila:

Thanks for the reply.

The model # is correct. JK 2501 AV. Serial # LEY50817. It is 38 years old, but looks new and works fine, except for the non functioning "clean".

Since my original post I notice that the timmed bake also is non functioning (we never use it). All heating elements are OK.

You mentioned to check the latch switch. The solenoid works. Is there another switch? Is it located at the solenoid?

Jack

Sorry without a parts breakdown I can't tell what your ranch has for switches.

If the timed bake is not working I would have to say that it is likely contact in the clock that are not making contact.

With the wiring diagram you will have to trace your clean circuit.

Thanks Shelia, I will try to follow the wiring diagram and figure it out.

What the heck, if all else fails I will just clean it with the Easy Off Fume Free Max, that is supposed to be OK on self cleaning ovens.
