Default No heat at all from wall oven elements
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: cfeb27s2as2
Age: 5 - 10 years

I hoping that you can help. Since we bought our 24" electric wall oven we have used it on a frequent basis. Most recently, it abruptly stopped working. This model is so basic, that we figured only one of two or three things could have gone wrong. Previously a thermostat switch component had gone on a unit that we had just before. So we presumed it might be a similar problem. We have replaced the oven-broil\bake switch and the thermostat. Neither have solved the issue. Nothing comes on of either the boiler or oven elements. The circuitry design would prevent both elements going at the same time. So we don't believe that it is either of the elements. We have verified that it isn't a power supply issue. I have even by-passed the oven light to see if the elements would come on without it. Nothing. There is no timer linked to the oven. The clock and timer cannot control the oven coming on and off as with conventional ranges. Could you please help?

Do you have 240 volts going to the clock?

Is there any codes in the clock?

Can you please verify your model number?

The last four digit of the number are in question.

Default Responce to question

There is 240 volts across the bus bar, and back to the electrical panel.

The model is canadian cfeb27s2as2
serial #nf23508766

The oven is the most basic you can get. The oven clock has a minute timer only. The timer is not a delay timer at all and is does not allow for control of the oven through it. No codes appear on the clock at all.

So far the thermostat switch and the control switch have both been replaced. I have tried bypassing both The light and clock and leaving them out of the circuit

Thank you

Because your oven is Canadian I can't bring a complete model picture up.

So I will have to ask some questions.

Is the clock electronic or is the old style with hands?

Do You turn a knob that has the temperature on it to start the oven?

Default Clock style

This is the frigidaire link to the manual and parts list, and diagrams.

As you will see, the clock, electronic, is just a clock with a minute timer. The electrical circuit diagram shows that the clock is not part of the oven circuit as no timer link is used.

Switches one thermostat pot style, one selector switch bake, off, broil

Regular line voltage - 110 volts has been measured throughout the house and across the terminal bar on both sides.

OK now I see what you have.

Check to see if the thermal cut off has continuity.

Check the contacts in the thermostat.

Check to see if the contact on the selector switch are closing.

Thanks for your input thus far.

Both the thermosts and the selector switch have been replaced in the hopes that it was a quick fix blown switch. All contacts are freshly replugged. At this point the only thing I can think of is a faulty replacement switch or thermostat. What do you think?

I'm not sure what you mean by the thermal cutoff. Thermostat?

The switches are closed. I don't think they will come apart.

The thermal cutoff is a little disk like the ones you find in a dryer.

If the oven over heats the contacts in the disk open to cut the power to the elements.

Default finally, Maybe

Let me get this right. If I put an ohm meter across the terminals and the thermal cutoff is engaged, it completes my circuit and therefore the cutoff is engaged. Therefore, I need to replace this little control.

Have I got that right?

I think thats what you've indicated.

Thank you for your help. I think that seeing that the circuit is continuous is what you have suggested.

Please let me know.

Sincerely

Andrew

If the contacts are engaged the thermal cut off is good.

They will open to cut the power to the element.

Think of this as a light switch.

You must have a complete circuit for the oven to work.

You should have 240 volts between L1 and L2 on the thermostat contacts.
