Hi Sheila,

Thanks for all your help. Fortunately for me, the problem was not our appliance. The short storey, around the same time as our oven going on the blink, our dryer also had a no heat issue. With all the information I was getting from you, I was under the impression that I was narrowing down the problems and close to a solution. All your help was transferable to the dryer as well. At one point you asked if I was getting 240 volts, I was actually getting 110v both sides and through the house. Therefore 220v. Co-incidently, a hydro meter was replaced by a technician around that time and I asked them if 110v was normal. They indicated it was. So I went on my merrry way trying to solve the problems. After discussion with a relative who is a hydro linesman , he assured us that 110v was not the norm and that the local Hydro should check the incoming house lines. Sure enough, a problem was found in the incoming house line. Ten minutes later, the fix, all the problem appliances now work perfectlly.

I'm writing to thank you as you helped me understand to a greater degree the different components to my appliances and helped me work out what the problems was or wasn't.

Many thanks

Andrew
