Model Number: Mabe 1D7631CNI
Age: Less than 1 year

So, here's our dilemna. We purchased a Mabe range that was designed to have the stove section surrounded by a Corian type counter top. We had been trying to locate a separate stove top and wall oven, which isn't the most popular combination in Mexico. What we have done is separated the oven from the stove top but our problem is the thermostat will not reach from the controls for the stove (which are built into the front of the counter top under the stove top) to the oven (which is now setting on the counter 6" to the left of the stove top).

Adapting the gas line and extending the electrical was not an issue. As it is, we can barely reach the inside back of the oven about 1/2 way up with the existing thermostat. The plan was to elevate the oven section approx 5" and build in the cabinetry around it. I am not sure I am happy with the thermostat being routed through the bottom of the oven and I definitely would like to elevate it.

Currently the thermostat is 4 foot long, an 8' thermostat would be ideal. Is it unrealistic to expect to find this after market? Is it the sort of thing that an appliance repair type person can solder an extension onto? I understand it is filled with oil and under some type of pressure. The oven control knob does not have a calibration ring for what that is worth.

Help!!!

Thanks

I would just solder in an extension
Would be better to have a cable with the proper plugs at each end but this may be a pain to try and obtain
The only real disadvantage is if you have to replace the thermostat in the future.
Then instead of unplugging you have to unsolder, also make sure the splices are properly insulated. Perhaps the best would be to use murrets

I would use a wire size that is a little larger than the original just to ensure the overall resistance does not increase
