Default Magic Chef oven temperature
Brand: Magic Chef
Model Number: 38HN-6TVW
Age: More than 10 years

Oven will not heat to set temperature. If temperature is set at 350 degrees, oven will only be heated to about 250 after 30 minutes. Beep did sound to say temperature was reached. We did replace sensor probe, but did not solbe problem.

Serial number of unit is 57C148925539

Have you check your elements to see if they are good?

Here is a link to your range model 38HN-6TVW.

The element does get hot. Is there a way to test the element to see if it is not working properly?

The oven will get hotter than 250 if set on 450. Then it may get to 300 or so. We did replace the probe and that did not help.

If the element is getting hot then there is nothing wrong with the element.

You will have to replace the control.

Question

I was afraid it would be the controller. What is the part number ? The first two digits of the serial number are 57 and the whole serial number is in my original posting. I would like to be able to order the part and have an oven again. Thank you.

The control with the highest series number would be the one for your range.

It is showing as no longer available but there is a place that repairs control.

The name of the place is ERCs, Stove Clocks, Mechanical Washer Timers, Dishwasher Controls, Dryer Timer, etc..
