Loose outer glass on top wall double oven Brand: Kenmore Model Number: 1033248010 Age: More than 10 years I have an over 20 year old double wall oven with an outer glass loose on window of the top door. I called a handyman, Peter, who has oncall hours at the newspaper he writes for and he told me that removing the door should be easy, but it is not. He said it may be rusty because of the age. Does anyone have any advice on removing this door? Because of the age, most parts are not available, including the manual. Therefore, if any parts break while trying to remove the door, the oven may become useless. I did not think I could use the oven for safety reasons even though the inside glass is intact, but Peter told me he believes it is safe and I will lose only a small amount of heat. If I find the right person who can remove the door, if the six retaining clips are not in the door, is there a creative way of using something similar to these clips (these are not available)? I have two choices: use the oven the way it is although when I sell the house I will have to replace the oven or see if the door can be removed and hope the retainers are in the door. What is the likelihood that the retainer clips are in the door and did not rust and disintegrate? I appreciate your input. Thank you. |
