Question Little white thingy on back of oven
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JJW9530AAB
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello
I have a Jenn-air oven model # JJW9530AAB. We pulled it out and took the heat shield/back cover off to see if we some how could correct a problem with the fit of the oven. (the electrician wired it so the hardwire sticks out in the back and won't allow the oven to go all the way back so it sticks out in the room about 2")

While the back panel was off I noticed that a little WHITE THINGY at the top left (if you are standing behind the oven) looked burnt, like it had once caught on fire.

The white thingy is about 1 1/2" OR 2" in circumference and has grooves in it and 2 wires that attach to it. It is scorched!

WHAT IS THIS THINGY and what does it do?
Should it looked burnt?
Is it important? (I assume it is)
Should I replace it?

Any help would be greatly accepted.

It sound like what you are locking at is the light receptacle.

If that is what it is the wire will turn brown.

Here is a link to your oven model JJW9530AAB.
