Default KitchenAid Electric Cooktop 'Locked'
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KECC508
Age: 1 - 4 years

We have a black KitchenAid glass cooktop with controls and elements under the glass. There is a center 'button' that locks the cooktop out so that it can't inadvertently be turned on by someone setting their hand down on an 'on' switch. It is in the locked mode and we have been unable to unlock it by the standard method. Does anyone know how to unlock it? If so, will it function as normal afterwards. Or, should we order a new controller board? If so, which board is it? TIA

Unhappy Failed Touch Control: Kitchenaid Cooktop

Funny you should post:
Tonight after cooking on our usual dual burner front surface, we turned off the burner, then held the "lock" control, but it never would light. The "Hot" light remained lite unitl the surface cooled, then turned off. I checked the breaker, it was okay, and went on and switched it off-on ... but the touch control still does not work. I am contemplating the next step - but think it is covered under our homw owners warranty.

Based upon another post:
I turned off the power at the fuse panel for ~ 30 minutes, then turned it back on.
This must have reset the unit, becuase it now works properly. Good luck with your problem.
