Question Kitchenaid cooktop igniter problem
Brand: KitchenAid
Model Number: KGCT365BBO
Age: 5 - 10 years

For the past four years our cooktop igniter on the front right burner has not come on with the gas control knob. We always just force the spark by using one of the other burner knobs. Today the cooktop has started sparking ALL burners with NO gas knob action, and sometimes continues for minutes. Sometimes it stops after about 30 seconds. I pulled the electric cord when it did not stop after five minutes. Should the Module # PS375228 correct this problem?
Robert

Yes it sounds like the spark module is shorted.

Shelia, I have a GE gas cook top and this morning I turned the knob and no clicking from the igniter. This is true for all knobs. What could this be??

It is likely the igniter.

Check the electrical connections.

I have this same problem. I even shut off the power at the breaker box and it still sparks. If it is shorted, and I have disconnected the power how is it still sparking? Where is the power coming from? The fact that it is contantly sparking makes the idea of looking under the hood a little nerve racking.

Its sounds as though you have a bad burner switch that is shorting out.The switch is mounted on top of he burner valve and makes a circuit in the lite position.

You are missing one of the letters at the beginning of your model number.

Can you please check your model number?
