Default Kenmore stove
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 3627171191
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a gas with the following problem.
Stove top burners all work, the oven will not light. When I turn on oven I smell no gas and do not hear a clicking for the auto light. Where do I start to trouble shoot this, I just don't want to start replacing parts.

Thanks for the help
Robert

I don't know if this will help you, but I went on line, read a couple of other sites and one of the things that they discussed was voltage. It made me think that maybe I wasn't getting enough voltage. I just moved to a new place and for a number of reasons I was using an extention cord. I removed the cord and plugged it it. It Worked!

Now your problem may not be so easily solved, but the site suggested using a voltage meter. The site that I went to was Expert Archive Questions Hopefully this site won't hate me for posting that website address.

Best of Luck! Destiny

I just tried posting something with an website address and I don't blame them but this website did not approve it.

Bottom line, after posting the above post, I did some more on line searching and found a site that discussed voltage as a possible problem. They suggested getting a voltage meter and checking your oven. That got me thinking that maybe that is my problem as well. I just moved and for a number of reasons I was using an extenstion cord. I unplugged it from the cord and plugged it directly into the wall. It Worked!

Although your problem may not be so easily fixed, it can't hurt to check the voltage before putting out any real money for repairs. Best of luck!

Destiny

Hey Robert. Though your top burners may have the spark type ignitor your oven likely has a "hot surface ignitor, sometimes called a glow plug". If that is cracked and most of the time they are not visable it needs to be replaced. They are easily replaced and fairly inexpensive.
