Default Kenmore/roper/whirlpool gas range F3 code
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 911.3xxxxxx
Age: 5 - 10 years

sorry I don't have complete model number in front of me, has electronic keypad/clock above the door (slide in gas range). all the code breakdowns said oven tempsensor, which I replaced, after about a half hour the oven shut down again and F3 reappeared. one other possibility mentioned for roper two digit F3 code was thermal fuse but wouldn't the burner refuse to even come on with a blown t. fuse? at any rate no parts supplier for this model lists a thermal fuse so I believe there is none in this one. Bad ERC? or what else could this be... wiring that I was able to look at when replacing the sensor was clean and looked ok so I don't suspect an abrasion/short at this point. any ideas appreciated.

ok, I'm replying to my own thread.. facing the $225 cost of a new ERC for this F3 code(temp sensor was ok as I said) and being congenitally unable to fork over this kind of dough for such a part, I found a GE range at a goodwill store with the exact same panel display, so I took a chance and bought it ($15 on half-off day!) and took the ERC out. Wouldn't you know the part didn't match exactly, it's a robertshaw product and the new one had two less wires attached than the one I wanted to swap it for. After a lot of headscratching I put it in with the two extra wires taped off( they went to door latch and something else that looked non-essential), put the beast back together and lo and behold, after a 3 hour bake test, it seems to have done the trick. clock works, display seems fine, keeping my fingers crossed.
