790 is not the model #. If you either look around the inside of the frame, where the door closes, there might be a tag there that says model #, or if you have a storage draw, or broiler draw, open it and look around the frame for the model #, then I could help you. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Default Kenmore range F1 error. Cannot turn it off!

We were baking cookies, and suddenly noticed the F1 error message on the range clock. I believe it started beeping as well. We realized then that the cookies were burning. We were not able to turn the oven off with the F1 error message. Had to turn off the breakers.

When we turn it back on after 5 minutes, it all seems OK. We reset the clock to the right time, but within a couple of minutes, the oven had turned itself ON and was beeping and flashing F1. Again we could not turn it off from the range. Had to turn it off at the breakers. The oven model number is 790.46992. It is a white Kenmore Electric Range (slide-in model). We have had it about 6 years and this is the first problem with it.

Please help!

F1 means you need to replace the clock control board. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Kayakcrzy,

Thank you for your help. I found the clock control board for $108 plus S&H with Sears parts. Their online parts inventory listed no parts available for my particular model. The phone agent was nice enough. He even confirm the part for the F1 error message. I'm very familiar with replacing parts on electronic appliances. Have never done one for a range/stove. Do you have any advice on this particular replacement job?

Stephen

Just make sure that you put the ribbon connector from the membrane switch back on the new board snug. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

I will keep that in mind. Thank you for your help. I will update the forum again after I get down with the repair.
