Default Kenmore gas range burners will not light
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 665.5029100
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Kenmore freestanding gas range model 665.5029100. The top four burners will not light. The electronic initiators are working on all four burners but there is no gas coming out of the burners. There is an electronic valve on the gas line leading to the top four burners. What is the purpose of this valve? The broiler and oven burns are working. Thanks Jim.

The purpose of the valve is to allow gas to flow to the burners.

If you are not getting any gas to the burners the valve could be faulty.

Can you please verify your model number?

I figured this out. Looks like when there is a power outage this valve cuts off the gas to the top burners. To unlock I had to hold down the “TOP LIGHT” button for 5 seconds. Why would the unit cut off the gas on a power outage? Is this normal?

In addition, the model number is correct. This unit was made by whirlpool and sold by sears under the Kenmore name. As a result neither Kenmore nor Sears has this model number in there database.
