Our Sears kenmore elite freestanding range glasstop broke, something dropped on it. How hard is it to repair, I cannot find and instructions on how to do it anywhere. However I did find the part on the Sears website.

I have the same problem, did you ever find the directions to replace it? I have the new glass, but it looks difficult to replace. If you could let me know where to find the directions I'd appreciate it.

The reapir person came by and said it's not covered under the warranty, but he told me how to do it. Call my cell and leave a message and your number so we can talk about how to do it. 209-402-2398. My name is Rob. I am working graveyards and I will be off at 7 a.m. Pacific time, (Calif.). I ordered the top and I am waiting for it to arrive. I ended up paying 240.00 with tax from the Sears web site, the repair person was telling me it was 290.00. I told him he was crazy.

I had my Kitchen Aid range apart tonight and it was simple. Open the range door, remove two screws on the underside of the range top at the front corners, lift the range top, remove four clips underneath that tighten the edge band, remove screws on each side at the back of the band, take the edge band off, lift the glass top off. There was a gasket around the edge that was stuck to the metal frame. Prying very slowly broke the seal and the glass came off. The elements are spring loaded to press up against the underside of the glass. Yours is likely a bit different but should be similar.
