Default Jenn-Aire range
Brand: Please select
Model Number: SVE47600
Age: 5 - 10 years

Certain keys on the Membrane Control, specifically the "Bake", "Broil", "Clean", "Convection Bake", "Convection Roast", and the Numbers 6,7,8,9 and 0 do not seem to work. But the "Stop Time", "Cook Time" and "Cancel/Off" keys and the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 do work.

Please see attached photo

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Al

Seems like the control panel or the cable from the panel to the timer/clock module has a problem
Quite often there will be one ground or power circuit trail or wire that is common to a number of switches.Probably this has gone open for one bank of switches.

If they use a ribbon cable between the clock/timer and the panel this is usually the culprit
First thing I would do is unplug the stove, then unplug the connector from the panel to the clock. Be fairly gentle when doing this as these cables tend to be delicate.
Visually inspect it for breaks also inspect back of the panel for breaks/ cracks etc. The ends of ribbon cable can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Reconnect it. Plug in the stove, give it a try. You may get lucky!

If this does not solve it then you will need an ohm meter to find the break

NOTE: This does not eliminate the clock, they may use two I/O (Input/Output) chips for the panel. If one blows you loose half your panel. But the above is much more likely.

Default JennAire Panel Problem

Thanks,

I'll try that this evening. I have inspected the ribbon end that goes into the clock. Will I have to disassemble the panel from its mounting brackets in order to inspect/clean the other end? I don't have it opened up now (we use it to cook), and I have never seen the other end of the ribbon. Two years ago I replaced the clock.

Thanks again

Al
