Default Jenn Air Touch Pad #4 and #1 kaput
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JDS9860AAW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Help! We have a 5 year old Jenn Air Dual Fuel Slide in range and the touch pad numbers 1 and 4 have stopped working. Everything else is working fine.

I have contacted several supply houses, the 800 help line and a dealer - not much help. I ordered the Clock w/harness today from the mfg. as their parts department said that would fix it. Another person said I needed the control assembly.

My question to you is - Will the Clock w/harness (part #74006363) fix the touch pad? I've been unable to find anything else that looks close to being the answer.

Thanks!

Default Replace the touchpad

Do you by any chance know the part number? Jenn-Aire hasn't a clue.

Here are the parts

And a service manual and a tech sheet

You will notice that the ribbon cable uses tracks 7&8 for button 1 and 6&7 for button 4. Odds are high the track 7 is open.
This can be checked with a meter, just measure resistance between the applicable tracks then push the button.
Visually inspect it for a crack or corrosion. May also be a crack on the board itself.

Could be the control board itself (a blown IC) but odds are good that it is the panel.

If you can find a crack on the ribbon cable it is repairable with a little skill and care using the kit to repair window defoggers on cars.
