Default Jenn Air Oven Door latch replacement
Brand: Jenn-Air
Model Number: JJW9830DDP
Age: 1 - 4 years

Anyone replaced the door hinges on this model? The lower oven door latch keeps releasing itself, door then falls off? The hinge has a really strong spring..

If the locking lever is not rotated fully up to the locked position the door will not close all the way and the door will fall off.

If the locking lever will not rotate fully up to the locked position then the hinge arm is not properly seated on the receiver.

Rotate the hinge locking lever down to the unlocked position and remove the oven door.

Then replace the oven door making sure that the hinge arm slots are fully seated on the horizontal pins in the hinge receiver.

Rotate the locking lever fully up and then close the door.

Thanks Sheila.. Problem I am having is both locking levers are a little beyond the closed position, door is off of the oven. This makes re-installing the door difficult. Pressing down on the locking levers (simulating door open) was an option however, once pressed down they will not stay that way for door re-attaching. Nothing looks broken on either lever and or the internal latch receiver, just will not stay attached.

Looking at replacement levers (part PS916881, or PS801361 shows NLA) yet, unknown what series these levers are for or whether those parts are even available?

Part number Ps916881 is available and it is for series 17.

The series number is the first to digits of your serial number.

Is what you are saying is the door was removed without locking the hinges in the opened position.

Looks like I have a series 10 thus, no hinges are no longer available. In a round about way yes.. We opened the door, it fell off - twice! The second time I know for sure the locks were in the down position.

If your range is only 4 years old the parts should be available.

Yea tell me about it, I shouldn't need parts if it's only 4 years old! Sheila, I am just going by the Parts Select numbers..I would hope they would still be available.
